Divine Renovation Conference

Last week Bishop Mark and others from the Diocese attended the Divine Renovation Conference in Birmingham part of a tour of conferences around Europe. The event's theme was ‘unlocking your parish’ and centered around the book 'Divine Renovation' by Fr James Mallon, a priest from Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada, among many things the book looks at how parishes can become more outward-facing and welcoming. Much like in the Fr Mallon’s own parish lessons from the Divine Renovation model can help renew the Catholic community and on a large scale are having a dynamic effect in many parishes around the world.

The books teaching have already been replicated in the UK and during the conference the attendees were able to hear from parish leaders who are already experiencing fruit from using the Divine Renovation model.

As well, as some inspirations keynote addresses including one of Fr Mallon himself , Bishop Mark was able to celebrated Mass and spoke powerfully about the things that stop us moving towards creating missionary parishes, namely ourselves, the world and the devil. Seen in the pictures below.
